Captain Victor George Anderson Bush, 10th Battalion, Highland Light Infantry and Royal Flying Corps, born in 1893 at Bangkok, was the youngest son of Admiral John Bush, Bangkok Harbourmaster, and Mae Bush.
When Anna Leonowens, the “I” in the “King and I” arrived in Bangkok she was met by John Bush, and stayed at his house until the King arranged accommodation for her.
On 29 August 1914 enlisted in the 9th Battalion of the Royal Scots
Married in St Davids Church, Viewforth in Edinburgh on 16 December 1916.
Died from injuries he received in a crash on 8 February. One of the wings of the Sopwith Camel he was flying failed and it crashed on the outskirts of Ayr.
He is remembered on the Galashiels War Memorial, the memorial at Gorgie in Edinburgh and on the memorial in St Michaels Church in Edinburgh.
